Stop the anti-forest law!
To Peruvian authorities:
We urge the Peruvian Congress and national authorities to stop the legalization of land invasion and deforestation that threaten the Amazon, Indigenous Peoples, and biodiversity by repealing Law No. 31973 (known as the 'anti-forest law'). Peru must respect the principles of free, prior, and informed consultation with Indigenous Peoples and adhere to its international commitments to protect the Amazon.

This ‘anti-forest’ law gives agribusiness land-grabbers and loggers legal ownership of precious rainforest lands, even if they are taken from Indigenous peoples' ancestral territory - and Peruvians have taken to the streets by thousands to demand a repeal.
Now, forest defenders are taking the fight all the way to Peru’s highest court, and they need a global spotlight on the case to make sure it isn’t derailed by powerful agribusiness lobbies desperate to keep the law in place by any means.
Add your name now to stand with Peruvian forest defenders and support the repeal of the anti-forest law ahead of a critical hearing, convened by the Constitutional Court in the coming two weeks.
