As global citizens, we want you to know that your crackdown will not silence the voices of the Egyptian people. We demand that you end the censorship on independent websites and organizing platforms like Avaaz, and the wider attacks on civil society that are corroding Egypt’s democracy.

And we’re not alone -- this is part of a vicious crackdown on civil society across the country, with hundreds of activists being imprisoned and news outlets being shut down.
Egypt is home to the largest community of Avaazers in the Middle East, and together we’ve fought hard for justice and democracy there and around the world. This is an attack on our whole movement, and the democratic freedoms it represents!
Before this censorship spreads, let’s come together in massive numbers to show Sisi and other leaders across the Middle East that the world won’t stand by when governments attack freedom of speech and human dignity.
