To Julia Klöckner, Germany's Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture:

Following  outbreaks of the coronavirus on European mink farms, you have publicly called for an EU-wide ban on fur farming. Although this is a great first step -- now we must take action. With Germany’s EU presidency, we urge you to leave a lasting legacy by making sure that such a ban is implemented. Use your voice to convince your fellow European ministers to push binding EU legislation: Demand an immediate end to fur farming and a ban on fur imports to the EU.

Millions of minks have been killed in Europe after a mutated strain of the Covid-19 virus was detected on mink farms which had already spread to the human population. It is terrible.

But this tragedy comes with a unique opportunity: Politicians and animal rights activists are calling for the closure of these farms. The current media attention and a public outcry can provide the final push we need.

Let’s seize the moment and urge the EU to end fur farming and fur trade once and for all!
