Amber Rudd: Save refugee children!
Our pressure is working! With a key vote tomorrow ministers are scrambling to avoid defeat in Parliament. If we keep the pressure up today, the Home Secretary could make major concessions that would be a lifeline to these desperate children. Here are some key points to make -- but remember the more personal our messages, the greater their impact:
  • I'm horrified that Britain is breaking its promise to help vulnerable refugee children, and want you to know I support bringing them to safety in Britain.
  • I call on you to fulfil the government's reassurances to peers and MPs about its plans to support refugee children and to make sure this shameful betrayal is reversed as soon as possible.
  • As our Home Secretary, I request that you honour the intent and spirit of the commitment given to peers and MPs last year by re-opening the scheme to bring 3000 of these children to Britain.
