Dressed in all black, they descended on a peaceful ceremony at Camp Sovereignty - a sacred site for Aboriginal communities in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. They beat women with metal bars, sending one to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses say the police knew the Neo-Nazis were coming but failed to act. When officers finally arrived, they pepper sprayed the victims - and despite the racial slurs and organised neo-Nazi violence, authorities haven’t recognised this as a hate crime.
This is racism, plain and simple - and Aboriginal leaders are demanding action to prevent it from happening again. We have just days: let’s all stand with Aboriginal communities against this attack and push Australia’s police chief to investigate this as a hate crime, before he steps down!
