Children are not collateral damage

To Brazil's Attorney General:

We, citizens of the world, demand that you accept the lawsuit filled by Brazilian MPs against Governor Witzel and make Justice for children killed in Rio, starting with Ágatha. Children are not just collateral damage - police violence has to stop.

Children are not collateral damage
"The only weapons she had in her bag were crayons and books". This is the cry of an elderly man who is trying to understand why his 8-year old granddaughter, Ágatha, was shot in the back and killed by the police in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And the saddest part of it is: we can no longer say it is an accident. Ágatha is the fifth child killed by government forces this year since Governor Wilson Witzel adopted a policy of "shoot first, ask questions later".

As a mother, I refuse to keep watching this carnage as I hold my son safely at home and poor families fear to let their kids go to school. I am sure you feel the same. A group of Brazilian MPs might be giving us a way to stop these murderous policies; they just filed a lawsuit at the Attorney General's office, asking for a formal investigation against Governor Witzel.

We know Brazil cares about Rio's international image - it is, after all, what keeps cash flowing and tourists coming. Let's let them know the world is watching - and demanding justice!

When 1 million of us sign this petition, we will publish ads in major international newspapers in key markets, warning tourists not to come to a city that kills its children. Unless the Attorney General listens to our request.
