Fast-track climate lawsuit against Russia!

To the President of the European Court of Human Rights:

A climate lawsuit against Russia filed two years ago by brave Indigenous people, climate activists and human rights defenders is still languishing on your docket. As concerned European citizens, we request you prioritise the case without further delay, just like the court has done with several other climate cases.

Fast-track climate lawsuit against Russia!
As Russia’s mega-polluting illegal invasion of Ukraine rages on, it’s never been more important to sue its government over their despicable climate failures and human rights abuses.

That’s exactly why a group of Indigenous leaders, youth climate activists, and environmental and human rights defenders filed a lawsuit against Russia at Europe’s highest human rights court – at great risk to their own safety. “We brought this case not just for ourselves — but to show the world what’s happening, and to challenge the lies told by those in power,” says Vitaly Servetnik. But two years on, the case still hasn’t made any progress.

If the court continues to stall, a chilling message will reverberate worldwide that even Europe’s foremost human rights judges will look the other way while authoritarian war hawks flout their climate duties and violate citizens’ fundamental rights.

We can’t let that happen.

Sign now to ask the President of the court to fast-track this climate lawsuit against Russia at once – and our partners will take our message straight to Strasbourg, making it impossible to ignore!
