Our tech chief just gave me worrying news: our campaigning means Avaaz could be a target for a massive cyber attack.

Our two dedicated security experts are already fighting off attempted breaches almost every day, with hackers trying to crack into our system, emails aimed at stealing our data, and efforts to take down our website from all over the world.

They’ve not succeeded, but we can’t take any chances. Our mission is calling us to take on some of the best cyber-warfare experts in the world, from Putin’s mafia government to far-right troll armies.

We’ve seen how they launch sophisticated hacking attacks against their enemies -- and with our work defending democracy putting us on their radar, to keep Avaaz safe we need to scale up our security systems, fast.

Security work is expensive, and we don’t want to divert resources away from campaigns.
