Days to tame the Murdoch mafia
Amazing! Media Secretary Karen Bradley recognised Avaaz’s contribution when she called for Ofcom to review Murdoch’s bid. Now it’s time to go for the win! We have just days to tell Ofcom why we don’t want this ruthless and dangerous family taking over more of our media.

You can use the talking points below as a starting point. But Ofcom has said it will count identical submissions as just one, so write a personal message, and use examples which speak to you.
  • The Murdochs and their people have a long history of tearing up media regulations, breaking laws and arm-twisting politicians. I don’t believe they can be trusted with more control over Britain’s media.
  • Fox News’ coverage of the terrible Westminster attack was offensive and harmful and shows what could be in store if the Murdochs fully take over Sky.
  • Keeping Sky independent contributes to the range of news sources we need for a healthy and informed, democratic society.
