A European trio -- Sweden, Finland and Austria -- is leading a push for an accounting trick that would let rich countries cut down as many trees as they wanted, without having to report the increased climate damage.

If they succeed, it could spell disaster for forests, the people who rely on them, and the already stuttering global climate negotiations.

The EU can stop this scam. But since the Copenhagen summit they've been too scared of failure to take a strong stand. This is Europe's chance to once again lead on the international climate stage. Let’s send a flood of messages to EU Environment Ministers, urging them to be bold on climate and make forests count at next week’s meeting.

Fill in the form below, the Environment Minister from your country will be automatically targeted, then send the pre-set message, or delete the text and quickly write your own.
