As citizens of one of the oldest democracies in the world, we are appalled at the government’s opportunism in using the chaos of Brexit to introduce a bill that would allow ministers to rule by decree, with zero Parliamentary oversight. Theresa May’s last throw of the dice
Interrupted by a heckler with a P45. Losing her voice. Bits falling off the set behind her. As painful as it was to watch, Theresa May’s conference speech was the perfect metaphor for a government falling apart.

But she’s clinging on, and amazingly now wants to ram through parliament a law that would give her and Ministers like Boris Johnson absolute power! The EU withdrawal Bill would let her bypass Parliament to force a catastrophic Brexit down our throat.

The good news is we aren’t alone in thinking she’s gone too far. A former Tory attorney general calls it a “monstrosity”, Labour is opposed, and only a few Tory MPs need to rebel to tip the scales and kill the bill.

If enough of us weigh in now we can stop Theresa May’s slide to an elected dictatorship.
