The Brexit vote has again shown the gulf between Europe’s people and its leaders. To save the Europe we love, and the values it is based on, we call on you to show you are listening. This means announcing plans to bring radical transparency to all your decisions, reduce the power of corporate lobbyists in Brussels, bring down the costs of EU institutions and tackle austerity and tax evasion. Together we can rebuild Europe and prevent the spread of dangerous, hate-filled politics.

This Wednesday Europe’s leaders face a choice. Punish British voters for daring to challenge them, or show that they’re listening and ready to change course. If we’re fast, we can help tip the balance.

If the EU leadership gets this wrong, far-right populists will be the big winners. They’ll push for referenda in country after country, as part of their push to spread hatred and division among the millions who have lost all faith in political parties and other institutions. But, if they get it right, they can revive and transform the European project, making the EU far more responsive while ditching austerity, kicking out the lobbyists and retaining our freedoms. This response could even help keep Britain in the European family.  

EU leaders have never been in this situation before, and they don’t know whether to play good cop or bad cop. Let’s help them decide. Join the call for the EU to listen to the people and save Europe. Once hundreds of thousands sign, we’ll deliver to Wednesday’s Council meeting, and via the media.
