You know that your plans to extract and burn more fossil fuels are incompatible with a safe and secure planet, and this decade is our window to act to keep global heating under the emergency threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius. We demand that you negotiate a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty to stop expansion of all fossil fuels, agree an equitable phase-out plan in line with a carbon budget of 1.5 degrees Celsius, and invest in a just global transition to 100% clean energy. We will hold you accountable.

There’s something more dangerous than nuclear weapons … and it’s all around us: Fossil Fuels. We must phase them out, before they kill even more people, and break our planet’s life-support systems.

1 in 5 of ALL deaths are connected to pollution from coal, oil & gas. The atmosphere above us is choking from decades of unchecked pollution, and is at the very edge of tipping our planet to a hostile state. And if governments continue with current plans of drilling for even more fossils -- there’s no way to stop it.

So thousands of scientists and Nobel Laureates have issued a bold call to government leaders: agree to a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty to phase them out, the same way the previous generation of lawmakers agreed to control nuclear weapons for the sake of humanity.

This week is critical -- leaders are meeting for talks at the UN, ahead of the mega climate summit of the decade in a few weeks. If we generate a tsunami of public support behind the scientists, we can force leaders to answer how they’ll kill off fossil fuels, before they kill our hope:
