A British citizen has been languishing in Egypt’s notorious jails for all but a few months since 2013. So far, the UK government has done next to nothing to get him out - but together, we can help break the deadlock.

Abd el-Fattah, a dual national who became a leading voice in the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011, is in prison for the absurd accusation of “spreading false news”. The real reason is his writing exposing military killings of civilians and calling for basic democratic freedoms - but pressure around his case is at fever pitch.

El-Fattah’s mother has been on hunger strike since September vowing to go as far as it takes, and this week, 12 Nobel laureates have written to Keir Starmer pleading for him to intervene “before it is too late”.

Will you join them - and demand Starmer intervene to free Abd el-Fattah?
