Free Zeytin

To the Turkish authorities responsible for wildlife protection :

As people from around the world, we call on you to transfer Zeytin, the Western lowland gorilla rescued from traffickers, to an accredited sanctuary within his natural habitat range. At just five months old, he was taken from the wild. Conservation experts have called for his placement in a habitat-country sanctuary where he can grow up with his own kind. Turkey stopped the traffickers. Now ensure that Zeytin’s future reflects international conservation standards.

Free Zeytin
He was just five months old when traffickers stuffed him into a wooden crate.

Zeytin - a baby gorilla whose species is critically endangered- was intercepted at Istanbul airport after being smuggled from Nigeria to Thailand. He had been stolen from the wild, torn from his family before he was even fully dependent on his mother.

Turkey rescued him - but has now decided to keep him in a zoo, despite calls from leading conservation experts to transfer him to a sanctuary in his natural habitat.
