To the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, the President of the EU Commission, and all EU Heads of State:

We are horrified by the images of starvation emerging from Gaza.
Why does the EU continue to grant Israel special treatment, instead of using its full leverage to ensure food reaches those in need? We urge you to convene an Extraordinary Council meeting immediately and commit to sanctioning Israel until the attacks end and humanitarian aid flows freely.

In the last 72 hours, 21 children have died of hunger in Gaza. Doctors, journalists, and humanitarian workers are wasting away from starvation, and hundreds have been shot at aid centers.

And yet, one week ago, the EU’s top diplomat refused to push for sanctions, claiming she saw “positive signs” from Israel.

But a diplomatic rebellion is in the making. In an unprecedented move, 34 former EU ambassadors have publicly called on Europe to ACT NOW AGAINST ISRAEL. It’s our turn to turn that diplomatic signal into a concrete step to sanction Israel.

We can’t let our leaders head off on holiday while Gazans starve to death.
