We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran and call on you to urgently deploy all available technological, political and diplomatic tools to pressure Iranian authorities to immediately end the violence against protesters, restore all internet access, and make way for free, fair, democratic elections.

We also urge you to uphold international law and reject any form of unilateral foreign military intervention. The people of Iran deserve better. They deserve your boldest moral leadership, now.

I haven’t heard from my cousin in Iran for weeks, and I’m terrified.

He’s six months younger than me — more of a brother than a cousin really. We used to invent detective stories together as kids, convinced we could imagine every possible outcome.

Now my messages to him don’t arrive, and they haven’t for weeks — since the Iranian regime began killing and torturing tens of thousands of its own people in response to mass demands for freedom.

I’m writing to you as a fellow human being, asking you not to look away. Please add your name to this open letter to world leaders, to stand with people in Iran and demand governments everywhere take action now.
