Kenya: End Child Marriage
To the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, the Kenyan Government, and Parliament:
As citizens concerned by the high rate of child marriage that affects almost one in four girls in Kenya, we ask you to finally launch and implement a comprehensive, fully-resourced National Action Plan to end child marriage. This plan should include policies to empower and educate girls, mobilise families and communities, provide services to support those most at risk, and implement a strong legal framework that safeguards our children.

Last year, the Kenyan government was meant to finally approve a comprehensive National Action Plan to stop child marriage, but nothing has happened. Zambia, which has launched a concerted effort, has seen the number of child brides drop by 25 per cent! But Kenya, is dragging its feet.
We have just days before the media momentum around the 4-year-old girl case passes, so let’s push Kenyan politicians to finally launch it’s fully-resourced nationwide plan and shine a light on these invisible girls! Add your name and once we hit ten thousand signatures, we will deliver it to friendly MPs so that they can be our voice inside Parliament.
