EU: Save the Internet - now or never
To the Body of European Regulators of Electronic Communications (BEREC):
We call on you to use all your powers to prevent a two-tiered Internet for the rich and ensure that all data traffic is treated equally. We urge you to close all loopholes in the current proposals that would allow service providers to prioritise certain content and act as gatekeepers, through preferential treatment, “zero-rating” or class-based traffic management. Only in this way you will protect the democratic and open nature of the Internet.

That's a bad sign. Governments do dumb things when people aren't watching.
For years we've fought to protect "net neutrality", equal Internet speed to access all websites -- from big corporations to bloggers. This principle is the basis of the Internet as we know it, and on Thursday, top EU regulators will give their final verdict on it.
We can't let them do it in secret. We don't know where the meeting is, but we do know who's going, and we have their email addresses. Let's send them a note tomorrow from a few million people, calling on them one more time to save our Internet.
