Make this a global system to protect the most vulnerable, ensure fair benefits, and give countries real oversight of the resources on their land. This might sound like sci-fi or dystopian fiction.

In countries rich in mineral resources but historically exploited, over a million children use their tiny hands to dig minerals crucial in today’s world.

Phones, electric cars, AI assistants… Minerals like lithium and cobalt are so crucial to modern life that we stay silent about those being sacrificed.

But another way is possible.

UN experts proposed a new mechanism that can make the production of rare earth minerals fairer, cleaner, and safer - for the mine workers, but also for the whole world. And we have an opportunity to have the G7 kickstart the mechanism in 10 days!

But most leaders won’t act unless they see a strong enough demand from citizens. So speak up now, and when our voices are strong enough, Avaaz will deliver our call inside the negotiations!
