A Maasai elder from Kenya just reached out with an urgent plea: big-money investors are offering cash to build elite safari parks on ancestral Maasai land. For families struggling to eat, it's a heart-wrenching choice — sell their home to survive, or keep it and stay hungry.

A decade ago, this land was dying. An Avaaz grant helped restore the river and revive the habitat, turning barren ground into a thriving sanctuary for people and wildlife. Today, elephants, giraffes, and zebras migrate freely across these plains again, on a corridor that links the Mara to the Serengeti. But the paradise we helped rebuild now risks being lost forever.
