Last year we helped win the way for Norway's first national climate law. It should be a massive step forward for our climate, but the government has just released the first draft and they've gutted meaningful action.

A public consultation is open until tomorrow, if we flood the process with calls for climate leadership, not watered-down weakness, we can win again.

Use the form on the right to send a message now, urging them to keep Norway's climate promise. The more personal the messages the better, but we’ve provided talking points below to help you write your message -- feel free to send your messages in Norwegian!

• The draft of the climate law is too vague and noncommittal to keep the government to account and make sure we reach our 2050 national emission targets in line with the Paris agreement.
• A strong climate law must include not only a national plan for net zero emissions in line with the Paris agreement but concrete measures on how to achieve it.
• An independent body should be tasked with assessing whether the government’s policies are in line with the climate targets and there should be legal consequences where the government fails to comply.
• Climate change requires action from every country in the world. As an arctic country, we know what's at stake and want a strong climate law that ensures we’re doing our bit.
