Close the NSA's spying loophole
To the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, Congress, and President Obama::
As citizens concerned about our right to privacy and frightened by the disturbing scope of U.S. intelligence activities, we call on you immediately to revise Executive Order 12333 to ensure that when U.S. persons’ communications are collected, they are instantly deleted - just as the President’s hand-picked Review Group advised. We further call on you to pass legislation that guarantees minimum privacy standards, and provides Congressional and court oversight, for all U.S. intelligence activities.

The government says it has put in place protections against the collection of our most personal data. But one loophole undermines all of that. Executive Order 12333 allows the NSA to invade our inboxes, and grab our personal photos and most intimate messages -- without a warrant, cause or due process. This must change. On Wednesday we can help John change this--he’ll be making a statement to the government agency responsible for protecting Americans’ privacy. Together we can send a strong demand that the President and Congress close this loophole.
It takes a lot of courage to stand alone against the government. But if we join our voices in support of John, he can carry them into the room with him -- and bring this hidden spying loophole to light.
