Obama: Welcome Refugees

To the Obama Administration:

We call on the Administration to resettle at least 65,000 Syrian refugees in the US by 2016. Countries such as Germany, Australia and the UK have increased the number of refugees they will accept in order to address this crisis as a shared responsibility. We call on the US to follow their lead and do the same. The US has been a champion of democracy and human rights, and should stand for its values.

Obama: Welcome Refugees
President Obama just announced the US will only accept 10,000 of the million Syrian refugees who need safe haven -- nowhere near enough! If we act now, we can push him to be bolder.

After one million of us signed a petition a few days ago, and public pressure ramped up, governments worldwide are responding -- the UK and Australia, who said they would not increase refugees numbers, just agreed to take tens of thousands. But the UN says one million need sanctuary, and our country's fair share is 65,000.

One Syrian man, George Batah, has started a petition on the White House website calling for exactly that -- and it is spreading like wildfire. If we can get the petition to 100,000 signers the White House is forced to respond!

But we only have a tiny window to influence the President and convince him 10,000 is unacceptable. Add your name and share it everywhere -- Facebook, email, Twitter, etc - so we get to 100,000 signers now.
