To Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and all Pakistani Parliamentarians:

We urge you to immediately pass the Anti-Honor Killings Laws (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill 2014 in the Parliament, and make sure all perpetrators of honour killings are brought to justice. We also urge the government to launch a major education campaign to spread awareness about the consequences of committing such brutal crimes against women.

Her own father shot her in the head, stuffed her in a bag and dumped her in a river. And then he walked free. That’s what happened to 19-year-old Saba after she defied her family to marry the man she loved.

But miraculously Saba survived! And now her story combined with our voices could ensure no woman in Pakistan ever has to pay this price for love again.

More than 1,000 women are murdered every year in Pakistan in “honour” killings. Despite being illegal, few women see justice because of a fatal loophole -- as long as the family forgives the perpetrator they go free! Now a documentary telling Saba’s story has been nominated for an Oscar, and for the first time the Pakistani Prime Minister has said he will “rid his country of this evil.”

Before the media spotlight fades, let’s build a massive global call to protect women from honour killings. If enough of us join, we will deliver our voices directly to the Prime Minister and the Parliament in a screening in Islamabad next week. Sign now.
