Save bees and farmers
To all Members of the European Parliament and the European Commission:
As citizens concerned about the fate of bees and farmers, we call for action through:
A phase-out of the use of synthetic pesticides
By 2030 the use of synthetic pesticides shall be gradually reduced by 80 percent in EU agriculture. By 2035, agriculture in the entire Union shall be working without synthetic pesticides.
Measures to recover biodiversity
Habitats shall be restored and agricultural areas shall become a vector of biodiversity recovery.
Support for farmers
Farmers must be supported in the necessary transition towards agroecology. Small, diverse and sustainable farms shall be favoured, organic farming expanded, and research into pesticide-free and GMO-free agriculture will be supported.

More information:
Bees are amazing. They help produce 3 out of 4 crops we eat, they communicate via 1500 unique dance moves, and recent fossil finds show they were alive and buzzing 100 million years ago.
They're also struggling.
Under pressure from pesticides, climate change and habitat loss, these precious pollinators are dying in droves. And it’s not just bees. The "insect apocalypse" affects hundreds of thousands insect species, including butterflies and bumblebees, and has knock-on effects on birds, amphibians and other animals up the food chain. 40% of the 1 million known species of insect are facing extinction.
But now a European Citizens’ Initiative is catching fire with a plan that would protect both bees and farmers and create momentum for a new kind of agriculture. It's worked before -- Avaazers used this tool to force the European Commission and Parliament to address important issues from glyphosate to GMOs. 1 Million of us are needed -- join now!
