Save bees and farmers
Save bees and farmers

To all Members of the European Parliament and the European Commission:

As citizens concerned about the fate of bees and farmers, we call for action through:

A phase-out of the use of synthetic pesticides
By 2030 the use of synthetic pesticides shall be gradually reduced by 80 percent in EU agriculture. By 2035, agriculture in the entire Union shall be working without synthetic pesticides.

Measures to recover biodiversity
Habitats shall be restored and agricultural areas shall become a vector of biodiversity recovery.

Support for farmers
Farmers must be supported in the necessary transition towards agroecology. Small, diverse and sustainable farms shall be favoured, organic farming expanded, and research into pesticide-free and GMO-free agriculture will be supported.

For all we know, bees can't catch coronavirus. But Covid-19 is a threat to our precious pollinators, too: With the world preoccupied by the pandemic, lobbyists have free rein to push back against important environmental wins -- already, ambitious goals are being struck from draft strategies!

That's why the bees need some powerful lobbyists of their own: all of us.

A European Citizens' Initiative is pushing towards its 1 million goal, with a plan that would stand up to industrial agriculture and put both bees and farmers first. We can push it over the edge.

It's worked before -- Avaazers used this tool to force the European Commission and Parliament to address important issues from glyphosate to GMOs. Here's something we can do, even when in lockdown -- join now and spread the word!
