Save Ghouta's Starving Children

To Under-Secretary General Lowcock, Secretary General Guterres, and all parties to the conflict:

We are absolutely horrified by the death of baby Sahar and reports of over a thousand severely malnourished children in eastern Ghouta. We demand that you do all in your power to deliver life-saving supplies to these families besieged in Ghouta and across Syria, and ensure continuous aid access and secure evacuation routes. We also insist that you document all violations of international humanitarian and human rights law and refer them to competent judicial bodies.

Save Ghouta's Starving Children
Before she died, one-month old Sahar weighed only four pounds -- not from some rare disease but because she was intentionally starved.

And right now, there are over 1000 starving kids just like Sahar that we have the power -- the obligation -- to try to save.

Here’s how: the Syrian district of eastern Ghouta has been besieged for years, and in recent months with continued fighting and a failed aid plan, the situation has gotten worse. But just miles away the UN’s humanitarian agency has all the food these starving kids need and the trucks to deliver it. What’s missing is the will and public outrage to make it happen.

Add your name now and Avaaz staff will take a simple message to the new head of the UN’s relief agency: load the food on the trucks, drive to the checkpoints, and save these kids. NOW!
