Ecuador: Protect this living paradise

To Ecuador’s President, Daniel Noboa Azín, and Vice President María José Pinto:

As citizens from across the world, we call on you to immediately halt the auction of mining concessions in Ecuador's Intag Valley and declare it a permanently protected area. For over 30 years, communities have defended these cloud forests, home to species found nowhere else on Earth. Honour their stewardship and safeguard the Intag Valley for future generations.

Ecuador: Protect this living paradise
In the Intag Valley, you can hear waterfalls gurgling, birds chirping, and endemic frogs croaking through the mist: these are the cloud forests of the tropical Andes, home to one-sixth of all plant species on the planet.

Intag communities have been fighting to protect this paradise against greedy mining companies for over 30 years, forcing seven of them to retreat.

But Ecuador’s president is trying to sell it off again, and locals say authorities are silencing anyone who tries to stop them.

Yet brave community members refuse to back down – and they’ve asked us to raise our voices to help protect this forest now and forever.

This is urgent: companies can enter the territory in a matter of weeks. Let’s stand together to defend paradise. We will pressure President Noboa to stop the auction of the land and declare this area protected for good.
