Send a message to ban this poison

To Canada's Health Minister Philpott, Environment Minister Mckenna and PM Trudeau:

We call on you to immediately ban the use of Imidacloprid and all neonicotinoid pesticides which are known to be lethal to bees and other insects. The catastrophic demise of bee colonies could put our whole food chain in danger. If you act urgently with precaution now, we could save bees and insects from extinction.

Send a message to ban this poison
Canada’s on cusp of banning a popular pesticide that’s lethal for bees and other crucial insects. A consultation is open for another week and if we weigh in big we could win.

Here are some talking points to consider when writing a message, but remember -- the more personal the message, the better:

  • It’s vital that you follow through on your proposal to ban Imidacloprid. This chemical causes harm to aquatic insects, which are critical part of the ecosystem and we need your leadership to help protect them.
  • The proposed 3 - 5 year phase out period must to be shortened. We know this chemical is harmful and the time to act is now.
  • Imidacloprid is a systemic pesticide that makes makes nearly every cell of a plant toxic to insects and we strongly encourage you to extend the proposed ban to include tree trunk injections and veterinary uses.
  • France has already vowed to ban neonic pesticides by 2018. We're counting on your leadership to protect our environment from these killer chemicals.
