World leaders: Save the world's rainforests!

To world leaders meeting at the One Planet, One Forest summit:

We call on you to ensure Indigenous peoples and traditional communities are at the centre of global forests protection efforts, and that their land rights are respected. Science already proved that Indigenous territories and the traditional knowledge of these communities are the best solution to protect our environment. They must be at the decision table and have unrestricted political support, as well direct access to critical funding, to continue conserving nature.

World leaders: Save the world's rainforests!
Our precious rainforests are disappearing at a horrifying pace -- we lose about 10 million soccer fields of forests each year!

Governments may be finally waking up -- and in days, leaders from countries holding the world's biggest forest will meet to negotiate large-scale protections for the world's lungs.

But there's a risk: Governments may privatize forest protection and put big business in charge instead of the Indigenous peoples who have protected them for millennia.

Indigenous leaders from around the world are fighting back – so let’s join them and ensure they’re not sidelined at the summit!

Add your name now -- once we reach enough signatures, Avaaz will show up with a delegation of Indigenous leaders and make our voices heard at the summit. Sign and share with everyone!
