Save Vaquita!

To Mexican Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources Juan José Guerra Abud:

We call on you to do all you can to save the endangered vaquita including banning all types of fishing that could affect the vaquita throughout the area it inhabits, declaring its habitat a marine reserve, removing all types of fishing gear that puts the vaquita at risk and making sure these measures are effectively implemented.

Save Vaquita!
There are only 97 of the adorable vaquitas left in the wild, and experts say that unless we take immediate action, they could be completely wiped out in just a few years. But we could save them, if we put enough pressure on the Mexican government right now.

Vaquitas are rare porpoises who only live in Mexico’s gulf waters. These sweet and timid mini-dolphins drown when they get caught in nets used for other types of lucrative catch. But now if Mexico’s government agrees to protect the area of the ocean where the vaquitas live, that could be enough to make sure they don’t die out!

Experts say the Mexican government is deciding right now whether to take action. If we show the Mexican environment minister that the world is watching and his global reputation is on the line, we can make sure he does what it takes to save the vaquita. Sign the urgent petition and share it with everyone!
