As citizens from around the world, we are deeply concerned by plans to build a stadium on Brisbane’s Victoria Park - sacred land of the Yagara people. We urge you to use your powers under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act to designate it as protected cultural heritage and stop the destruction before it begins.

In the heart of Australia a sacred land is under threat. The state government is fast-tracking plans for a massive new Olympic stadium in Victoria Park, a site where Indigenous people have danced, celebrated, and gathered together for thousands of years. It’s home to ancient trees, fragile ecosystems, and possibly ancestral remains.

But there’s still time to stop it.

Right now, the federal environment minister has the power to declare Victoria Park a ‘culturally significant site’, a move that would block the bulldozers. And public pressure can help push him to do the right thing. That’s where we come in.

With the world’s eyes on Brisbane ahead of the 2032 Olympics, destroying sacred Indigenous land would be a PR disaster Australia can’t afford – risking billions in tourism and sponsorships, and sparking global backlash that could scar its reputation for decades.
