My cousin thinks that chemical attacks in Syria’s war are fake news — seriously, he saw it on the international news channel RT and no matter how many heartbreaking images of suffocating toddlers I show him, he won’t budge.

I’d be furious except it’s not his fault. RT is treated like the BBC and broadcast on our televisions like its real news, to 70 million people worldwide. He has no idea that it’s a Russian propaganda network funded by Putin’s regime.

This is how Russia muddies the waters. When human rights atrocities are linked to their brutal Russia-backed regime, RT reports that humanitarian volunteers are carrying out atrocities!

But right now the UK authorities are considering taking RT off the air. We have chance to break this fake news cycle. MPs are calling for it to be closed, and if enough of us back the UK regulator to act, we could persuade them, and then the rest of the world can have the political cover and impetus to follow suit. Sign now, while UK authorities are on the case.
