Water defenders need your help

To the President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, and all world leaders :

We, citizens of the world, stand in solidarity with the water defenders under assault in Bali. We urge you to immediately intervene to protect them and to move forward in the recognition of water as a human right.

Water defenders need your help
A few hours ago, paramilitary groups linked to ultranationalist movements attacked the hotel where water justice activists gathered to attend a global meeting.

Violent groups wearing dark glasses, helmets, and masks are controlling the entrance to the building and blocking delivery of food and water. 14 people have been evacuated, but around 40 remain inside.

We can help protect them.

Just a few kilometres away, some of the world’s wealthiest corporations are sitting comfortably and securely – working to continue the global privatisation of water. Meanwhile, the brave activists who are trying to secure water as a human right are being assaulted in an attempt to intimidate and silence them. We must act now!

The best way to protect the activists in danger is to ensure global media puts pressure on the Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and 1 million signatures in the next 24 hours can help. Let’s do it!
