Urgent Lifeline for Afghan Activists

Urgent Lifeline for Afghan Activists
Avaaz is trying to help at least 50 women immediately escape the Taliban.

We can't tell you their names for their own safety -- but they are mothers, sisters and daughters who bravely resisted and protested against one of the world's most brutal regimes.

In Afghanistan today, it's essentially illegal to be a woman. They can’t get an education, go out alone, or even sing in public. So when these women dared to speak out, they were beaten and hunted by the morality police. They fled to Pakistan with their families.

But now, they're about to be sent back -- and the Taliban are waiting.

The women face being imprisoned, tortured or raped. For many, deportation is a death sentence.

This is a fundraiser to help them escape. Avaaz is close to securing expedited visas for those most in danger, but they need funding for the actual relocations.

Your donation would pay for emergency travel, legal fees, and relocation costs -- helping dozens of women to find safety in a new country.

And that's just the beginning. Together we'll also support Afghan women to raise their voices for justice at the world's highest court, where four major countries could soon launch a historic case against the Taliban. And continue our campaigns for human rights around the world.

There's no time to lose. Police in Pakistan are going door-to-door, and two women have just been found and deported.

Your donation is an urgent lifeline. Please give what you can now.
