Syria’s dictatorship has fallen.

Bashar al-Assad—war criminal and tyrant—has fled to Russia. This is a monumental moment, a turning point in Syria’s history, and a triumph for the values we all hold dear.

It’s a ray of hope when we all desperately need one.

In 2011 Syrians rose up peacefully to demand freedom and justice.

What did they get instead? Brutal repression. Extreme terror. A government that turned on its own people with savage force.

What would most people do in the face of such cruelty? They would flee. They would seek safety from the violence and fear. BUT THE SYRIANS CHOSE TO STAY TO FIGHT WITH ALL THEY HAD.

Now, after 5 decades of dictatorship and 14 years of unimaginable suffering and sacrifice, the people of Syria get to experience freedom for the first time in generations.. We share this with you to remind you: never lose hope. Justice always prevails.
