Brazil: stop mining in the Amazon!

To Brazil's Environment Agency and all relevant authorities:

As concerned citizens, we urge you to pull out all licenses granted by local authorities to the Canadian Belo Sun Mining Corp to build one of the largest and most toxic gold mines in the world, in the heart of the Amazon. This mine could cause irreversible environmental damage, and could be devastating to nearby indigenous communities.

Brazil: stop mining in the Amazon!
A Canadian mining firm wants to dig a monstrous open pit gold mine in the heart of the Amazon forest. To extract the precious metals, they'll detonate bombs meters away from the river, and even plan to store toxic waste near the shore.

Public attorneys are trying to delay the project, but the billion-dollar Belo Sun mining company has the resources to flood the courts with lawyers and block a delay. So far Brazil's environmental agency has stayed on the sidelines -- but we can push them to take a stand for the forest and indigenous rights, if they hear from millions of us around the world now.

Add your name urging the Brazilian environmental agency to stop this cancer from spreading in the Amazon! When enough of us sign, we'll fly global media in to talk directly with the indigenous people most threatened by the mine.
