Jad was 15 when soldiers shot him in the back. He fell to the ground calling for help. For 35 minutes, the soldiers stood next to him, chatting, even taking pictures, while paramedics were kept back. Jad died on the street.

While we are told the story of a "ceasefire", the reality on the ground is very different. In the last few days alone, Israeli strikes in Lebanon killed boys playing football in a camp. In Gaza, new waves of airstrikes have killed dozens. In the West Bank, settlers and soldiers are shooting children and attacking families harvesting olives. It’s deliberate, and it has not stopped.

The hard truth is this: Israel keeps doing this because Western leaders let them. G7 leaders, especially the EU, have leverage over sanctions but they only use it when public pressure becomes overwhelming.

That is why we have to be louder than ever.
