Stop drilling in the Amazon

To Presidents of Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and all world leaders at COP28:

As global citizens, we urge you to declare the Amazon a fossil fuel free zone and work towards a global phase out plan of coal, oil and gas with science-based end dates. Climate change, deforestation and other threats are pushing the Amazon and its people close to the limits of survival. We call on you to turn away from fossil fuels now, and instead triple renewable energy production by 2030 to keep 1.5°C in reach.

Stop drilling in the Amazon
My name is Domingos Peas, and I am an Achuar Indigenous leader from the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Right now, I am fighting to protect the Amazon's sacred headwaters, the source of all life in the rainforest, from destruction.

Our countries' greed for fossil fuels is pushing the Amazon to a true climate collapse -- and yet, our leaders are moving to open more oil fields in the forest!

But one man can help stop this: President Lula of Brazil. And his example would put even more pressure on the last holdouts -- Peru and Ecuador.

My people have joined hundreds of Indigenous and environmental groups calling for the Amazon to become a fossil fuel non-proliferation zone -- and with leaders gathering for the COP28 climate summit, now is the time to supercharge this call.

Sign the petition to immediately stop all drilling in the Amazon -- and I'll work with Avaaz to bring your voices straight into the climate talks:
