Stop drilling in the Amazon

To President Lula of Brazil all world leaders at COP28:

As global citizens, we urge you to declare the Amazon a fossil fuel free zone and work towards a global phase out plan of coal, oil and gas with science-based end dates. Climate change, deforestation and other threats are pushing the Amazon and its people close to the limits of survival. We call on you to turn away from fossil fuels now, and instead triple renewable energy production by 2030 to keep 1.5°C in reach.

Stop drilling in the Amazon
The Amazon is hit by a record-breaking drought, threatening the lives of over 500,000 people.

Major rivers reduced to a trickle, wreaking havoc on people and wildlife -- with hundreds of rare pink dolphins ‘boiled’ to death, wildfires raging uncontrollably and communities stranded without food and water.

These are the signs of Amazon collapse -- yet the Brazilian president just joined the world's largest oil producers’ cartel and is looking to open it for drilling!

Hundreds of Indigenous groups are rising up to stop this, calling for the Amazon to become a fossil fuel non-proliferation zone -- with leaders gathering for the climate summit right now, let’s supercharge their call.

Sign to push President Lula of Brazil and all world leaders to urgently stop new drilling in the Amazon, and beyond -- Avaaz will bring our voices straight to the negotiators!
