As citizens around the world, we urge you to use your authority as Statkraft's owner to stop the flooding of the Mapuche Williche people's sacred territory. We also urge the relevant authorities to investigate whether Statkraft's public commitments to human rights and Indigenous rights are consistent with its actions. No company should be allowed to destroy Indigenous sacred places or violate the right to free, prior and informed consent.

Norway: Stop the flooding
For Amanda and her Mapuche Williche community, the Pilmaiquén River is sacred - a lifeline of memory, ancestral grounds, and home to the Ngen Kintuante, guardian spirit of their territory.

But in just weeks, Norway’s state-owned energy giant Statkraft plans to drown it all beneath millions of tons of water for a mega-dam.

Amanda’s and the Mapuche won’t back down. They’ve fought Statkraft for years - and they’ve already forced the energy giant to abandon a previous dam and return stolen land.

Now, they are taking the fight back to Norwegian and international authorities.

Statkraft is 100% state-owned which means the Norwegian government could pull the plug.
