Stop the East African Crude Oil Pipeline
It is truly monstrous.
Snaking through Uganda and Tanzania, the pipeline would pump up to a quarter million barrels of oil every single day. It'll carve through elephant sanctuaries, protected forests, and more than 200 rivers -- as if it was designed for maximum destruction.
The stakes could not be higher.
We are living through the hottest years in recorded history. Rainforests are burning, the glaciers melting, and every climate disaster is closer and closer to home. Yet oil companies are doubling down on deadly projects like this one.
Avaaz has been fighting this pipeline for years. But despite important breakthroughs, construction is charging ahead -- and thousands of families are being evicted to clear the way. That's why I'm writing to you today.
Right now, one of the UK's top law firms is preparing to take the owners of the pipeline to court. This case could stop the pipeline outright -- but we have to launch it now, before construction is completed.
This is an urgent call to everyone who cares about the climate crisis and human rights. If enough of us chip in, we can launch this case immediately, support the communities fighting this pipeline in East Africa, and power Avaaz's work to protect life on Earth.
Everyone who donates will have the option to be named in the court documents, going down in history as someone who stood against this deadly pipeline.
This is our last chance. We may not get another one like it. Please donate what you can today.
