Defend the Right to Love in Uganda

Defend the Right to Love in Uganda
I write from Uganda, where a vicious 'anti-gay' law is about to be passed -- and we are being hunted like animals.

Days ago, neighbours castrated a transgender person with a kitchen knife. We couldn't go to the police because we'd be arrested. We had to search for a friendly doctor, because most wouldn't help us.

We're being fired from work, rejected by family, evicted, beaten, raped… and worse.

I'm appealing for support. Please.

Even as LGBT+ groups are raided and shut down, we are being flooded with frantic calls for help. We've now created a network of safe houses where people can hide, but need so many more because we constantly have to run when angry mobs arrive. We're also providing emergency medical care and psychological support for severely traumatised people.

But we can only afford to help a tiny fraction, and our funds are being totally drained.

We have a narrow window now, when we can still receive donations -- but when the law passes, everything we do will become illegal. I am heartbroken, and don't know where else to turn.

And it's all because of who and how we love. We need international support. Please donate what you can now.
