UNESCO - Help save Bengal Tigers!

To members of UNESCO and World Heritage Committee:

We urge the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to recognise the threat on the Sundarbans and officially enlist it into the "List of World Heritage in Danger". We further urge you to take concrete and deliberate action to ensure the future protection of the forest from such damages from commercial activities, and work directly with the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to achieve this outcome.

UNESCO - Help save Bengal Tigers!

Toxic oil and coal have spilled into the pristine waters of the Sundarbans three times in the last 1.5 years alone -- and the Rampal mega coal plant will turn these delicate waterways into coal superhighways. But a UN team could declare the irreplaceable Sundarbans “in danger” and make it harder to secure the funds to build there -- if we act now.

Outrageously, our government didn’t let UN officials meet independent experts opposing the power plant during a full week-long visit! That's why it’s up to us to show the strength of public opposition, by writing to the UN team.

Prime Minister Hasina won a major environmental award last year and is sensitive to her international image on these issues -- if the UN issues a clear warning, we can get her to back off. Sign the petition urgently.
