With Pope Francis’ death, 1.4 billion people around the world just lost their spiritual leader. But no matter our faith, the election of his successor will affect us all.

Francis’ papacy was historic. From the climate crisis to inequality, he fought for more solidarity, and put people in need first. He relentlessly called for peace in Ukraine and Palestine, and sought to make the Church more inclusive.

Now his reforms are on the line, and a conservative Pope could undo it all – that’s where we come in.

While the papal conclave will vote in secret, they can’t ignore the world outside. This is our chance to show them there’s massive global support for continuing Francis’ progressive legacy – but we only have days before the Cardinals decide: join the global call for a people’s Pope, and share it with your friends and family, so Avaaz can take it to the Vatican.
