Love Is Not a Crime!

To President Museveni of Uganda, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Members of Parliament, and donor governments:

We stand with Wendy and Diana, and with all Ugandans persecuted for who they are or who they love. Drop all charges against Wendy and Diana, repeal laws that criminalise love and identity, and uphold justice, equality, and human rights.

Love Is Not a Crime!

My name is Wendy, and I'm 23 years old. I love music. I love performing. But above all, I love my girlfriend Diana.

The last time I met her we were beaten. I still have the scars on my knees.

Last year, the police raided our rented home, arrested us and dragged us into a nightmare no one should ever face - all because, in Uganda, our love can be punished by life in prison or death.

As I write to you, we have been released on bail. But we are not free. Now, we have less than a week to convince the government to drop the charges.

Just recently, the government dropped an LGBT case after massive international outcry. They could drop the charges against us too, and repeal this repressive law. But the government won’t listen unless the world is watching.
