Nobody in Gaza is safe. Not hospital patients, not journalists, not international aid workers, not UN staff, not even babies. The horrific, heart-wrenching images of mutilated children coming out of Palestine every day have laid bare the indiscriminate nature of Israel’s brutal attack on every part of Palestinian life.

And Israel is using British-made equipment to carry out these war crimes.

Vital components for Israel’s F-35 bombers - currently raining down death and devastation on civilians in Gaza - are made right here in the UK. International law says that selling Israel weapons and military equipment means that the UK could be complicit in Israel’s crimes. Last month, a senior official in the Foreign Office has resigned, saying “I can no longer carry out my duties in the knowledge that this Department may be complicit in war crimes.”

Now though, the new government has announced a ban - but only for a tiny fraction of the licenses the UK grants for arms sales to Israel. It does show that the pressure is working, but it isn’t enough. But half-measures won’t help the people of Gaza - we need a total and complete ban on UK-made equipment being handed over to Israel’s war machine.
