End the use of cages and crates for all farmed animals
To the UK Government:
We call on the government to ban all cages for laying hens as soon as possible. We also urge you to ban the use of all cage and crates for all farmed animals including farrowing crates for sows, individual calf pens, as well as cages for other birds, including partridges, pheasants and quail.

Hens crammed so tight they can't spread their wings. Calves isolated in tiny pens soon after birth. Mother pigs forced to give birth in cages barely bigger than their bodies. It's cruel…and completely legal – until now.
A major push is already underway to fully ban caging of farmed animals. Organisations across the country are asking the government for a full ban, and Avaaz members to join. Together, we can force a debate in Parliament!
It's totally possible: Some European countries already ban cages for hens, and by next year there will be a proposal to ban it across the EU. The UK shouldn’t lag behind, but lead by ending this cruelty for good. Sign now and share widely with everyone who cares about animals and a better food system.
