ABC: United for Justice

June 5th, 2009, looked like a normal day in Mexico. For 49 families in Sonora it turned, in a matter of minutes, into one of the worst nightmares any human being may face: losing a child.

The fire in the ABC daycare center was not an accident. It was the result of governmental ineffectiveness, corruption and negligence.

6 years have passed, and the parents of the ABC babies continue their struggle for justice with extraordinary strength. The have knocked on all doors of the country. They have pushed their empty strollers through all the public squares, hoping to find in all of us the thirst for justice. That thirst for justice that will make us to wake up and join them to protect our sons and daughters.

Not a single government official has been prosecuted for the negligence that ended the lives of 49 innocent children. Because of the lack of response from the Mexican government, the ABC families have presented the case to the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights. This can change everything. If the Commission accepts the case, the investigations would begin, justice obtained, and the necessary safeguards to prevent a similar tragedy implemented.

Sign the petition and join the call on the commission to take the case.
